A little bit more
Norm (short for Norman as we currently have two!), who is estimated to be 3 years, 1 month old, is looking for a forever home.
This gorgeous, grey and white boy was found living stray and was handed into an out-of-hours Vet Practice suffering with a badly injured paw. The vet was able to treat Norm’s paw, but in the following days, he began to struggle to settle in the practice environment and staff contacted HFC to ask for help with fostering him.
Norm arrived into HFC foster care in Ashford, Middlesex, seven weeks’ ago where he remains nervous of new people, preferring to be allowed to approach them on his own terms. He will wait to be sure it is his Foster Carer at the door before approaching and he is uncomfortable with sudden movements.
However, Norm’s confidence is growing. He is building trust with his Foster Carer and has started to follow her around. He likes to sit with her on the sofa and he accompanies her to bed where he enjoys receiving a cat treat before they settle down to sleep. Norm enjoys receiving lots of attention and play time. He particularly loves his cardboard scratch toy with ping pong balls around the outside and a Kickeroo.
As Norman was found living stray, we suspect he may have missed out on being well cared for and learning how to play nicely that is naturally learned by cats growing up in a happy home. At this time, Norm will sometimes affectionately nudge his Foster Carer to seek a fuss, lick her and then try to bite. His Carer is actively working with Norm on improving his socialisation skills and to correct this. However, we feel he is best suited to a home with experienced, adult adopters keen to spend time continuing his learning from foster care. Norm would like to be an only pet and a safe garden to enjoy once settled.
Norm has a blanket that he has a very special relationship with, which may have resulted in friction and a loss of hair on his rear end and a front leg. Whilst this does not currently seem to be worrying him, we are keeping a close eye on this.
Whilst in HFC care, Norm has been neutered, microchipped and received both vaccinations and he is now ready to start his journey towards a forever home.
If you would welcome the opportunity to meet Norm, please take a look at the checklist in his media where you can see the type of home he is looking for. Thank you.
