Ben, who is male, (dazzling!) white and 2 years, 6 months’ old is looking for a forever home.

Whilst Ben originally had a loving home, he was not neutered at that time and he began to live stray. Whilst fending for himself, he became unpopular with his neighbours. Driven by his instincts, Ben entered homes uninvited, frightened the resident cats and attempted to mark the homes as his territory. Ben sustained minor injuries, his condition deteriorated and his owner (who saw him from time to time) became increasingly concerned for his welfare and contacted HFC to ask for help.

Ben eventually arrived into the care of our Cat Cabins on the Surrey/Hampshire border 11 weeks’ ago, visibly frightened and fearful that humans may kick! Initially using a careful “hands-off” approach, our Cabin Team very gradually built trust with Ben. With time and understanding, he has now bonded with his Carers with whom he has re-discovered his desire to be a loving and affectionate lap cat!

After he had had time to settle, we arranged for Ben to be neutered. An important step in the re-homing of all cats, neutering will lessen a male cat’s drive to stray and expand their territory. Ben was also microchipped and has received both vaccinations. An initial Snap test returned a positive result for FIV, so we have arranged for Ben to receive a confirmation blood test and await results. A positive result will mean that Ben will need to live indoors so that there is less potential for him to pick up illnesses and he is not able to pass the virus onto other cats.

Ben has potential to be content to live inside with experienced owner(s) who have time to spend with him and will offer him the kindness and attention he has been missing out on. In return, Ben has potential to become a doting and wildly affectionate companion! His adopters should be aware that Ben can become over-stimulated when petted (but his body language is easy to read), he does not enjoy the company of other pets and he is frightened by the sight of needles when visiting the vet.
