A little bit more

Maya is making great strides in her foster placement with a young couple in Woking. Here she is playing ball with her female Carer – a wish we had for her that appeared out of reach when we took her into HFC care five months’ ago.

Three-year-old Maya came into HFC care from a local vet practice where she had been taken to be put to sleep by her owner who had inherited and was afraid of her. We had little knowledge of Maya’s background, only that she was moved from a quiet, one-to-one environment to a house bustling with other animals. However, it was evident that she was terrified of women.

In her foster home, Maya went from being terrified, aggressive and territorial to being a complete love bug with the male household member, following him around, waiting for him at the door and smothering him with kisses. At that time, she steadfastly refused any attempts at bonding with her equally kind female Carer. However, after a short break away for her Carers, Maya appeared delighted to see them both upon their return and here she is very happy to play with her female Carer!

We believe that Maya has potential to live with either a male or female adopter(s) who are patient and accepting that she will be wary and almost certainly take time to adjust to a new home.

Maya is a loving and funny cat who desperately needs someone to see potential in her and give her that chance. Could that be you?

In preparation for re-homing, Maya has been spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated.

If Maya’s story has sparked a desire to help this special young lady and you can offer her a happy home with a safe garden, please take a look at the checklist in her media where you can see the type of home she is looking for. Thank you.
