A little bit more
Best friends, Organa and Purr, are looking for a forever home together. Their owner, who suffers with a disability, moved back in with her parents for support and was reluctantly unable to take her much-loved cats with her.
After six months in HFC care, Organa and Purr's Foster Carer was no longer able to care for the girls due to some building works being carried out at her home and the girls have just arrived into the care of our Cat Cabins on the Surrey/Hampshire border. Whilst we hope for Organa and Purr's stay at the Cabins to be temporary, we continue our search for a loving home for them.
When Organa and Purr arrived into HFC foster care, their appearance was unkempt, so we arranged for them to have a pamper session with a volunteer Groomer including carefully tailored baths for both girls and Purr having a manicure of her very long, sharp claws. Both cats had been spayed, microchipped and received a first vaccination prior to coming into care. We arranged for them to receive a health check and second vaccination with our Shelter Vet.
Since arriving into HFC care, both cats have been very affectionate, even being content to be picked up. They are playful and particularly like catnip toys. They liked to sleep in bed with their Carer, Organa on her chest or next to her, and Purr either on, or next to, her feet.
Organa, who is tabby & white, female and 11 years, 6 months’ old, sadly lost her left eye to an infection prior to her previous owner adopting her. She is the more confident of the two girls, keen to be involved in all activities. She likes to be with her humans and will lie on her Carer when she is working at her desk. She has a very sweet, silent meow, just opening her mouth as if to start to tell you something. Organa is a little curvy but she is not greedy and only enjoys yoghurt treats. She regularly and correctly uses her scratching post and will need one in her new home.
Purr, who is black, female and 10 years, 9 months’ old also likes to be around people and will lie on her Carer’s desk when she is working. She enjoys her food and likes to play with toys that have treats in. Sadly, Purr was attacked by dogs when she was a kitten and, as a result, she now has muscle atrophy in her back legs and drags them a little as she walks. She is able to jump high enough to a bed or sofa, using her front legs to pull herself up if needed. To maintain her cleanliness around her back legs post pamper session, Purr needs regular help with brushing/wipes. This gently chatty girl will also benefit from ramps to furniture to assist her with her disability, particularly as she becomes older.
The best friends are looking for a forever home with adults where they can enjoy being only pets. If you would like to adopt our affectionate best friends, please take a look at the checklist in their media where you can see the type of home they are looking for. Thank you.
