A little bit more

We understand that Tilly had been living stray for some time and had been a popular resident in her neighbourhood. When she started to limp on a back leg, one of the neighbours took Tilly to a Vet Practice for treatment, however, there was no-one from her neighbourhood in a position to financially support her. HFC took Tilly into care from the vet practice and we have tried to understand her health needs and help her on the road to recovery.

To help improve mobility and ease the arthritis in her back legs, Tilly is now wearing a Bioflow collar and receiving joint supplements in her food.

During one of Tilly’s visits to the Vet, a number of old wounds were discovered concealed within her coat on her back. The largest, which appeared to be an animal bite, had become infected. Due to her poor health, Tilly had struggled to heal the wound herself. The Vet shaved the area and we began a bathing regime with an antiseptic skin cleanser. Poor Tilly did not enjoy back baths, but the wound is now healing nicely.

In our previous posts, we explained Tilly was drinking and urinating more than expected and test results indicate that she is an early diabetic. When caught early, it is sometimes possible to treat diabetes through medication added to food once a day. Tilly has been happily eating her food containing diabetic and joint supplement medication and early indications are that her health is now moving in the right direction.

Following a follow-up vet check and move to a new foster home in New Malden this week, we are are cautiously looking ahead to the type of forever home she will need.

Tabby and white Tilly is a very sweet and gentle cat, estimated to be around 8 years’ old.  She likes spending time with her Carers and to receive a fuss. Once she has built trust, Tilly has potential to be an affectionate lap cat. Due to her arthritis, she is not currently playful and would like to live in a quiet, adult home. Tilly’s adopter(s) should be confident about consistently giving her the medication she needs in her food to help her to stay healthy. Due to her experiences and medication needs, Tilly would like to be an only pet.

To secure the loving home that Tilly is so overdue to receive, HFC is willing to support her adopter(s) with supply and financial support towards her diabetes medication where needed.

If you would like to express interest in adopting adorable Tilly, please take a look at the checklist in her media where you can see the type of home she is looking for. Thank you.
