A little bit more

This lovely boy is Whiskers who is black and white and estimated to be 1 year, 2 months’ old.  He started life living outdoors on the site of a Railway Station with his Mum, Bella, where he was initially very content. However, in recent months, gentle Whiskers started to be bullied by some of the other cats at the Station, which resulted in a nasty injury to his tail.

In liaison with one of Whiskers’ Carers at the Station, we arranged for his tail to be treated by our Shelter Vet and the injury has healed nicely.  For his safety and wellbeing, we also decided to take Whiskers into HFC care where his potential to be happy living in a domestic home could be assessed.

Whilst in HFC foster care in Guildford, Whiskers has built trust with his Carers and, in recent weeks, he has developed a daily routine with them. The day starts with a lively workout, involving fun with his favourite toys (a feather wand and a ball with a rattle in) and performing zoomies in the hall.  Once he’s burned off some energy, Whiskers then snuggles down with his Carers in bed. During the day, he then enjoys watching over his territory from a window and instigates short bursts of play. Each day is rounded off with a cuddle on the sofa with his Carers where he particularly enjoys a chin rub.

Whilst Whiskers is making great progress, we feel that he will need time and space to fully relax into a domesticated life. He remains very shy and will hide when there are visitors to his foster home. Therefore, we would like to find adult adopters open to re-homing Whiskers on a trial basis initially. We will remain available to offer support and advice for as long as needed by his adopters. Whiskers continues to feel worried around other cats and so we are looking for a home for him with adopters committed to him being their only pet.

Whilst in HFC care, we have arranged for Whiskers to be prepared for re-homing, and he has been neutered, microchipped and received both vaccinations.

If you would welcome the opportunity to help affectionate Whiskers’ transition and you can offer him a happy home with a safe garden, please take a look at the checklist in his media where you can see the type of home he is looking for. Thank you.
